Ziro: unexplored valley in Arunachal Pradesh

Ziro a wonderful land in Arunachal Pradesh is one of the proposed World Heritage site by UNESCO. It is a Valley or Intermountain Valley situated at the altitude of about 1500 meters above sea level. Ziro is the headquarter of lower Subansiri District, Arunachal pradesh.

            How to reach and what to experience in the ziro Valley is the question of everyone when we think of such place, which is relatively less develop places in compare to other towns of India.

How can you  reach ziro:

Because of the climatic condition and topography of the area, the means of transportation is limited by nature in this place.



By Air

Ziro itself doesn't have a profer airport however we can take flight upto lilabari airport which is the nearest airport to ziro Valley. One can take Cab service from here and reach upto itanagar, from here cab is available which will lead you to ziro Valley. 


By Train:

Their is no train available for the ziro from any parts of the world. The nearest Railway station is at Naharlagun-itanagar railway station. It takes almost 4 hours to reach ziro from the station.

By Road

Most of the bus services from other parts of northeast india is only restricted upto Itanagar and Naharalagun. One can take the maxi cab service from these place to reach ziro (pair  fluctuate between 300-500).

Why and where to visit ziro Valley 


This is one of the most important question as a traveler we ask ourself. Listed are the reason to visit ziro Valley. 
  1. Shivlinga, with the height of almost 22ft tall. Shivlinga is a special tourist attraction in ziro. 
  2. Talley Valley wildlife sanctuary, home of many endangered endemic flora and fauna. Covers almost 337sq.ft
  3. Tarin fish farm, surrounded by pine and bamboo many endemic high altitude fish use to bred here. 
  4. Manipolyang and Dilopolyang, it is a twin hillock. One can experience beauty of this hillocks on the way to Talley Valley wildlife sanctuary. 
  5. Dolo Mando, a hillock situated at west of ziro is a small hillock from where one can get the scenic beauty of old ziro and hapoli. 
  6. Midey, popularly know for blue pine trees is one of many attraction in ziro Valley for the adventure loving people. 
  7. Kile pakho, this is the place from where one can get the most beautiful scenic view of ziro valley.
  8. Culture and tradition, apatani inhabitant of ziro Valley have a very distinct cultural and traditional system.
  9. Paddy cum fish cultivation, this is a unique way of cultivating both fish and paddy in a same field.
